I have a Abit IC7-G motherboard, P4 3.0ghz 800fsb cpu and 1 gig of geil dual channel 3500 ddr ram.
Link to ram specs
I just spent the past few hours trying to get what i could out of my memory and i cant seem to get it to even run at the specified specs (2-6-3-3) the best i could do was 2.5-6-3-3. here are my exact settings:

Soft Menu:
User Defind
217/66/33 (Overclocked from 200/66/33)
PSB 800
1:1
Fixed
66/33

Cpu Default
1.5500 v
2.7V (Overclocked from 2.6v)
1.55

Adv Features:
2.5
6
3
3
Read Delay Adjustment Enabled
Command per Clock Enabled

what i want to know is what im doing wrong, i know the ram is rated higher that i have it, so there is something im missing. i tried overvolting the cpu voltage to 2.8 and it didnt help any. it seems any time i change the 2.5 to 2 i get a memory error. Thanks in advance for any help.

the thing with geil is that sometimes, you need lots of voltage to get it to run at spec.... so try maxing out the vdimm voltage...

ALSO

disable the last two options: read delay adjustment and command per clock

try those

I maxed out the vdim to 2.8 and it didnt make any difference. as for the two options i have enabled ill try disabling them, but i do think i ran sandra with and without those enabled and if they were enabled i scored a bit higher.

What you have is as expected. Geil PC 3500 is not going to run at 217 FSB on 2-3-2-6 or 2-3-3-6, no matter what Geil says. They run to about 210-214 at 2-3-3-6 in general. Some sticks can do better.
You can try to relax some settings but of course you'd loose on performance.

Most memory today on the market cannot runs its specs, Geil is no exception, try Corsair and their overclocked stuff. When they do, they run only on some boards (or in "shinning" web reviews). If there is any comfort I can tell you that PC 3500 by Geil cannot even run at 200 FSB on most NF2 motherboards.

As a shameless plug for my own action, I have some Corsair XMS PC3700 for sale.
