Hi,
I want to find the best settings for my memory now that I'm overclocking my cpu. I'm leaving the multiplier at 11x so I can still use AMD Cool'n'Quiet, so the HTT/FSB is going to be 219 or maybe 220x11 (still testing that).

When testing memory, I found it ran at 2-3-2-5 timings up to 210mhz (but I still haven't had the chance to test it for over one hour). Over 210, it fails memtest86 (badly) at those timings. If I use the 5:3 divider, that's going to make it (about) 183mhz=ddr366, or I could leave it at 1:1 which means the memory gets overclocked, to 220mhz, or ddr440.

It's my first time doing this, and I don't know what the right thing to do is. Lower clock speed to 183mhz=ddr366 and tighten timings to 2-2-2-5, or overclock to 220mhz=ddr440 and loosen timing, and which ones should I loosen?

Thanks in advance to the ones who help.

Benchmark both to see!

SuperPI
Everest
MaxxMem

Use those to get a quick idea of what is fastest.

Let us know the results!

Well, you want the fastest speed at the tightest timings lol...

You haven't said anything about what voltages you're using.

In general, loosen timings and increase voltage while raising your CPU FSB. Once you find your max CPU FSB, then start tightening timings, and finally, lowering voltage.

OCZ Platinum DDR was when OCZ was really at the top of their game. Most of those runs were very good overclockers, and warranty covered most of them up to 3.0v. 2-3-2-5 @ 220mhz will be faster than 2-2-2-5 @ 183mhz.

Yes, it would be faster, but it can't run 2-3-2-5 at 220mhz. 2-3-2-5 is stable only at 200mhz, and possibly up to 210 although I haven't tested it at 210 for more than one hour yet, but at 211+, it fails badly, and I will definitely need to loosen timings, but I don't know which to loosen, or if 2-2-2-5 at 183mhz would be better.

Voltage was 2.8v, the recommended voltage. Warranty covers up to 2.9v, which is my motherboard maximum.
