I was wondering if anybody could help me trouble shoot the following:
I recently purchased 2 512mb sticks of Corsair Value Select model VS512MB400. The motherboard is Gigabyte GA-7VRXPv1.1 (only supports up to 333/PC2700) memory
I installed them into the computer and it failed to post.
I re-installed the old memory (333), and it then failed to post.
I checked the old memory on a different computer and the memory works.
In all cases, I got a continual beeping from the motherboard, and it was the same noise when I tried it with 0 memory installed. I also ensured that the memory was properly seated and in the correct slot(s). I also ensured that I was properly grounded when handling all the equipment.
I changed nothing else, and the only thing I can come up with is I hosed the motherboard somehow with the new memory, but that makes no sense, as according to this faq http://www.giga-byte.com/Mothe...Support/FAQ/FAQ_41.htm the memory should be backward compatible.
Help? Any suggestions on what I can check?
Thanks in advance.
