memory module failing?

I have one Samsung pc2700 512 stick of ram in my 64 2800+ / vnfs3-250 comp. I've getting critical errors and sometimes blue screens in various games (wc3,etc.). Recently i purchased World of Warcraft, and now i am constantly getting errors and i am unable to play. At first i though this was a software problem, i tried everything drivers, etc. But someone recently told me to run windows memory diagnostic, and after 10 "passes" i failed stride6 tests every time, 702 errors and when i enabled view errors by module - they all pointed to my one peice of ram. Is my ram damaged? the thing is, it runs fine in normal windows operations -- only in certaint games does it crash or cause any problems. Also what could be the cause of this? I reset all my bios settings, but before when i was playing around with overclocking i had set the ram voltage to 2.7v. Could this have been a bad mistake on my part...?

Should i start browsing for new ram with my left over christmas money =\ ?

If it's not dead yet, i have new ideas:

1) windows memory diag says that reseating the module fixes 1/3 of problems, going to go try it right now.

2) i read on some other forum that a guy was having a similiar problem in World of warcraft, and he simply loosened his memory settings. Would this work? If i should try it, what should i set it to? it's running 2.5 3 3 6 right now i believe.

First, up the ram voltage little more - 2.8 is safe with Samsung
Try SPD setting in bios
Download Memtest86 and run from floppy
2.5-4-4-8
3.0-4-4-8

so your saying to up the dimm voltage to 2.8v? i had mine set to 2.7 and i thought that was the problem? that it made permanent damage? on my memory newegg lists "2.5" as the max.

Try memtest

If you're running everything on default with no overclocking and you still get errors than the ram has gone bad. I wouldn't worry about the 2.7v you put on it. It may just be dying. :(

Yes i ran memtest86 and i passed everything except test5's "stride6". Does this mean it's faulty ram, or can i still fix this by memory options, timings, etc.

Have you tried memtest? Like I said, if you're having errors at stock settings then its obviously bad. I've had ram that died on me within a year. No biggie.

From what I've seen Samsung sticks do have lifetime warranties but I don't know who to contact in your case. Perhaps you should try the place where you bought it from.

EDIT: Sorry didn't catch your previous reply about having run memtest.

If it fails consistently at the same place (especially at settings where it used to work), it's probably bad RAM.

You could also try downclocking it (run at, say, PC2100 with 3-3-3-8 timings) and see if the problems go away. If they're still present at a low speed, the RAM is almost certainly bad.

ok ill try one last time with the pc2100 3-3-3-8 settings. Good to hear samsung has lifetime warranty, but they're site is very confusing when your looking for memory and/or contact info =
I got a hold of some tech support email for samsung memory asking them about lifetime warranty and such. No response yet. What's the procedure with RMA'ing it?

Yes! Thanks Matthias! i ran my ram at pc2100 speeds with 3-3-3-8 timings and it's stable! oh the joy, i can finally play some games without crashing! This is going to be a temporary solution till Samsung replaces my ram or i get a new stick but thanks alot! i can finally game away the rest of my christmas break.
