Memory Management in Win2k

When I first boot up Win2k and login my memory usage is around 70mb. Now, after running for about a day straight my memory usage is just under 100mb. These numbers are taken with the same programs running at each time (verified by Task Manager). Is the extra memory being used by services that are not set to run at start up and only open when needed and if so why do they not close again? Also, the svchost file seems to have the greatest increase in memory usage ~6mb to ~11mb. This seems rather large considering that the file is less than 100k in size.

Any enlightenment will be greatly appreciated?
