Memory latency after OC

Why do I have memory latency @ 72ns? I usually see it ~50ns in Anandtech benches!

E2180 @ 2660Mhz 266x10 1.35v
A-Data DDR2-800 2x1GB

Because anadtech uses low latency DDR2, while your timings are 5-5-5-18.

I tried to put them on 4-4-4-12 and it just dropped 1-2ns!

What is it at 3-3-3-8, like they run? Also, you have to have your entire system optimized, to get ~50ns latencies. "Auto" for most settings doesn't get you anywhere near that fast.

No, I don't. BTW, when I said "system", I should have said "BIOS". Most people don't adjust anything except the "main" 5-5-5-15 or 4-4-4-12 timings, but the subtimings also effect performance. Of course, they don't affect it as much as the chipset you're using, but they have an effect. Are you using the same chipset that they used in the review you're talking about? They were most likely using an nVidia chipset, with 1T command rate, I would guess.

I tried the 3:5 ratio for DDR2-889 and the latency now reached 65ns:

That's with 8 GB, which is a nightmare to tweak...so i don't.

I can get it a decent bit better with 2x2 GB, but i'm not running 4 GB, & i'm too lazy to try wrecking the fragile balance of stability i have with 8 GB.

You should try running 1:2.

If your RAM can do it, you'd be at DDR2-1066 & pulling in very nice numbers.

It can be more in non-GPU bound games, but really, gaming isn't something you'll see any difference in.

Does anyone else find that the report tool and the benchmark tool give different latencies? the bench tool that you guys are posting pics of give me a latency around 34ns higher than what I get if I run the benchmark pages report.... difference between 68ns and 102ns.... I am running 8Gb G.Skill DDR2-800 at 840MHz, but still have a lot of tweaking to do.

Latencies hardly matter in benchmark numbers. But when it comes to real world usage i.e day to day stuff (having several apps open at the same time etc), there could theoretically be a difference in terms of responsiveness.

It claims to be Everest Ultimate, Version 4.10.1120 Beta. Thinking something is up with my system, as CPU-Z also gets confused about my memory. Thinks its DDR3 in asymmetric dual channel with a CAS of 33, but when I open Everest, it then realizes what the memory actually is.
