The freaking Memory price hike really makes me mad I remember when you could by 256 sticks of Crucial DDR ram for like forty bucks, now it is like 75 bucks. That sucks I thought that 512ddr ram would be down to about 50 bucks or so by now and it is crazy how much it costs. I guess I should have loaded up when it was cheap:eek:

bthorny, the RAM market is quite volatile, if you don't like the way it works, and I don't either, please don't play the NYSE :)

It was dirt cheap for 6 months, and everyone KNEW it would go back up eventually, you are right, you should have stocked up.

I remember paying $60 for PC133 64 sticks, so quit yer bitchin. And I know some people here paid $300 for 8MB of RAM, in the not so distant past.

I talked to my local computer store sales man and he suggested that I buy in April.......... that is when he believed prices would go down.

$75. for a 256MB stick, isn't that still cheap compared to what prices were about a year ago? A year ago was when I last bought memory and I think I paid $80. just for a 128MB stick.

It may be climbing up again after it bottomed out, but it's still down.

I just paid $31 for 256mb PC133 (actually $21 after rebate :D ). That's actually cheaper than it was a couple months ago... thanks Hot Deals. :)

btw I remember paying $50 for 1mb (of course you had to buy two of them though).

This pisses me off too... The 'fake' memory hikes kill the computer market which kills the tech stocks.. Yet they do it every time..

well I remember when ram was really expensive too but, I just don't see how they expect us to deal with this Wierd up and down motion of the prices. For some reason it seems like the price would just steadily decrease over time but, I guess (as said previously by Zim Hosein) it is a really violatile market:disgust:

In years gone by, I've paid as much as $500 for ONE MEG of memory. Sorry... no sympathy from me about current memory prices... they are bargain basement prices!

Sure, as long as RAM makers are shooting themselves in the foot by selling RAM at below cost everybodies happy but when they start folding like flies, everybody bitches about "conspiracies" and the like :disgust:

RAM cost that much because it cost that much to make a profit.

FFS, Commodity RAM is probably the closest market we have to perfect competition in terms of Computer Hardware. Dozens of companies, jack al product differentiation, huge volumes, incredibly easy information transfer.

If you dont like it, move to a countrie that doesnt support free market systems.
