Memory gets very hot in some setups, especially where the memory banks sit near the CPU heatsink and where the air venting from the heatsink blows across the memory. I've felt my memory a few times when it was too hot to touch.
I think a better way to cool a video card is to get one of those blowers that sucks air out of the case. It can be installed right in front of the video card ( just like a regular card). Or get a PC power and cooling card cooler that blows air directly into the card.
I do know that my Geforce2 was able to get to 390 memory with the heatsinks on; I had to pop them off for use elsewhere, and it will only do 366 anymore. I do want to try some active cooling sometime; if I think of it, I'll post results here.
