Memory for max oc/lowest timings

Hey all,

i recently, with all your help!, thought my major pc upgrade was complete. i was about to order it. and then a million memory topcis sprouted and i am more confused than ever. certain manufacturers are putting out newer ram, and etc. Price is NOT an option b/c this is a 2 year upgrade type deal.

i want the most aggresive timing and the max OC. Also the chips will run in dual channel mode and be 2x518 for a total of 1 GB ram...

this is one of the links i was looking at: http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=review&dId=486&dPage=1

while the crucial did well it IS rated at cas 3 @ 400 so conceivably that is all u should get...anything else is gravy....ideas anyone?

amd system or intel system?

at least for intel, the best memory hands down for the 865/875 chipsets is the ocz pc3700 gold

i don't think they have a 512 module available yet but these things overclock like a champ and will do the speeds they are supposed to...

🙂

as for AMD.... man, i'm still in search of the perfect ram...

This is where it gets tricky.

I WAS going to go the barton 2500+ on the epox 8rda+ (A1/C1...wishing for a 2.0) w/ 1 gb Corsair 3200XMS 2-2-2-5 T1

but lately i have read such good things about the 2.6/2.8C and i must say i like the HT factor of the new chips and they seem to be overclocking like champs also..i can't admit not wanting to pair a 2.8C w/ a 875 based board.

now for intel the timings can be less..i.e. 3-3-3-8 vs say 2-2-2-5 b/c u want a higher fsb and not really too worried about the timings, right?

For example what is the common settings @ DDR 500....
