Memory for HP Laptops

I'm looking at a HP Laptop; zv5000z series, and would like to know just how propritary their memory is? IOW's do I have to get it from them?

The unit I'm looking at has 256mb standard and I don't think I really need 512, but might get it later depending on price. It is a $100 option now which seems steep.

My Compaq (from HP) from Aug '03 had Crucial memory. They guarantee that it will work if you use their memory selector to choose it.

As a general rule: memory is no longer proprietary with current laptops. Some laptops are more picky about brands/types, as is any desktop computer. I've had good luck with Crucial, but haven't tried other types.

Buy these... They are the Kingston sticks made EXACTLY FOR THIS HP. I ordered a 512 and it works great in my zv500z 3000+ 64.

256

512

BEST PRICES ANYWHERE for guaranteed compatibility. I ordered my notebook with only 256 and got a 512 from kingston. They are specific to your hp notebook.

Good Luck
