Memory for Asus A8V

I'm looking for some memory for an Asus A8V motherboard. I think the fastest memory the motherboard is really designed for is PC3200. On the other hand, I see a lot of expensive ram advertised with faster speeds and lower latencies(relative to Kingston PC3200 ValueRam). I've also seen benchmarks that suggest that this expensive ram will, at best, make only modest improvements in performance. Should I go for value ram? or pay twice as much for something faster? Ballistix? HyperX? I'm planning to get two sticks of 512 memory with 184 pins. By the way, I know nothing about overclocking.

Thanks for any insight
