Memory FAQ?

Is there a decent FAQ about system memory on this board?

I currently have a Gigabyte GA-7n400-pro mobo, with 512mb Corsair XMS pc2700 ram (1 stick). I'd like to upgrade to a gigabyte. Should I just get another stick of the same? Can I get a stick of ddr400 (pc3200 I think) and mix (1 pc2700, 1 pc3200 on the same mobo?) The pc3200 is actually cheaper than the pc2700, but not by enough to warrant two sticks of pc3200.

512MB pc2700 at newegg 110.99 shipped

Thanks...

Hmm... maybe. I like to stick with well established name brand stuff for memory and such. I like stability. I'm not an OC'er, and don't like troubleshooting hardware instabilities.

Any answers for my other questions, like what happens if you mix pc2700 and pc3200 on the same mobo?
Thanks,

And this happens automagically or I need to ensure that all the settings are for 2700 rates in the BIOS? If they are set for 3200, would that effectively overclock the 2700 stick? (not something I want to do, just curious).

Yes
Yes

G.skill is great stuff. Stuff like XMS, on the other hand, is a huge ripoff when you're getting the same stuff as G.skill for half the price per stick.

g.skill is a good brand among oc'ers and enthusiasts. try it. you'll be happy you got it.

My mobo apparently only supports 2.5V DDR DIMMs. Does this mean I can't run those G.Skill Dimms (noted as requiring 2.65V?)
