Memory failing

I have gone through 3 different sets of Corsair Value memory packs (512x2) and all of them fail memtest86+ within the first 4 hours with 5+ errors.

I am starting to think the problems are not with the memory as these are pretty popular.

I have stress tested the CPU and it is fine.

Could 3 different sets of memory really all be bad? Perhaps a bad revision?
 
perhaps just compatabilty issues with the Asus mobo....

have you tried other bioses. have you tried upping the vdimm incase it is undervolting??
Have you tried directing a fan on them in case they are getting too hot???

Have you tried relaxing the timings or setting to auto???
 
I would suggest BIOS 1004. Increasing the voltage and um... I dunno.
I have the same thing, and though I never tried memtest. I have an 3000+ overclocked to 2.4ghz, mem @ 220 mhz @ 2.7 vdimm, and no stability issues.
 
Well, I would agree that it may be the voltage or timings but I have everything set to AUTO in the BIOS.

Each set fails at the same memory location on the same test repeatedly and it doesn't matter which DIMM slot the memory is in either. However, when running the problem test repeatedly they don't fail on each pass.

When I say they fail at the same memory location I mean within one set, each set fails at a different location and with different frequency.

I guess I will try BIOS 1004. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
 
Ok, well I have just spent the last day testing each stick of RAM and it looks like 4 of the 6 sticks are bad. I tested each on individually and 4 produced errors in the first hour. I then tested the two good stick for 24 hours straight with no errors. I am just thankful it is the memory and not something bigger. I thought the Corsair Value RAM was supposed to be good. Oh well... Now I have to see if Newegg will let me keep 1 stick from two different sets.
 
Small side track to better understand memtest...

How many errors are acceptable in a 4 hour period to rule out that it's a memory issue?

I consider any errors in 24 hours unacceptable. But that is just my opinion. I ran through 70 passes of memtest86+ on the last test and didn't encounter a single error.
 
i don't know if they still have this problem but my s754 3000+ has a memory controller that doesn't work if the memory above 210 mhz, regardless of what the cpu speed is. i went through a few different memory sticks before i realized this.
 
Have you tested these in different systems? Could it be that your mobo is causing the memory errors? Perhaps the voltage on your setup is too high or too low? If possible, I would test them in a different system with default memory settings and voltages, just to be sure it is not a problem with your mobo.
 
I didn't test them in a different system (don't have one) but I did test them individually and found the faulty sticks. I decided to go down to my local shop and pick up another pair of these and they work flawlessly. No errors after 24 hours of testing.

I didn't play around with the voltages/timings because I wanted to test these things stock since they should work without someone needing to play around with settings.

All in all, I am happy with the memory once I was able to get a good pair. Now I have to try and convince Newegg to give me a full refund.
