I have 4x512MB DDR-400 = 2GB

The system is going to be my parents soon and my new rig will have DDR-2. I want there new rig to have 2GB the problem is the motherboard only has 2 DIMM slots, Therefore I can only have 1GB in the system. I don't want to have to buy new ram and just want to figure out how I can get 2x1GB sticks.

1. Sell Ram buy 2GB ( probably end up costing me some money )
2. Trade Ram to obtain 2x1GB sticks

Anyone else have any ideas?

I doubt anyone would trade straight across, you'd have to sweeten the pot.

What do they do that they will need 2GB Ram? 1GB should be just fine. If it was me I would put 1GB in their computer and sell the other gig and use the money for the DDR2.
Just my opinion.

Well, I already have the Ram and I don't really need the extra money for my PC. My parents won't be the only one using the computer my younger brother will and I know he will be gaming I'd just prefer that it would have 2GB for future proof also.

Do you think that i would be able to trade 2x512MB for a 1GB stick? I doubt anyone will want 4x512MB for 2GB so i'd have to do two trades probably end up with different ram.

Selling the ram is also kind of a pain since I'd have to sell all of it at the same time to buy the 2GB. Idk what I am going to do :-(

Edit: The ram I have:

It's gone up since DDR-2 is becoming mainstream :)
