I just ordered components to build a new system (MSI K9N ultra with A64 3800 X2, Corsair 512 x 2 PC800, eVGA 7600GT, 2 SATA2 drives.
I plan running Win XP 64 to one drive and SUSE 64 to the other.
At the time I ordered, I was still in the "1 GB or RAM is enough" mentality, but now that I've been reading a bit more, I'm starting to think that I should've ordered 2GB (especially if I end up trying out Vista).
The K8N has 4 memory slots, 2 orange, two green. From what I've read, DDR2 should be matched (i.e., a pair of identical sticks, one per color).
If I wanted to add more memory, would I have to fill the other two slots with a pair of 512 sticks, or could I add a pair of 1 GB sticks (for a total of 3 GB)?
One other question; should I anticipate any tricky issues setting up a dual booting system (with Win XP 64 and SUSE 64 each on their own SATA drive)? I've seen a lot of forum posts regarding dual boot issues, but most of the problems seemed to stem from trying to dual boot from a mix of SATA and IDE.
