I'm not sure what forum should this belongs, but here is my question.

I filled up the memory banks with 4x512MB. My current settings is: 4-4-4-12-1T
or should it be 4-4-4-12-2T? which one activates the dual channel?

Dual channel will be activated either way. The command rate has to do with memory timing and not the number of channels.

Most boards are going to force the command rate to 2T with 4 DIMMs. You can try 2T if you like but I don't think it will do it. If you have instabilities, manually set 2T.

It is always best to set you timings manually. Motherboards act weird with them very often.

Agreed, I never use SPD. Back when I first got into OCing, that was 1 of the first things I learned. Bios are better these days obviously but, I still prefer to set the primary memory timings and all voltages manually.
