I have recently been informed by a web company who I purhcase computer parts off that the combination of an Abit KT7, Duron 750 + Generic PC100 (with rubbish cas probably) is not a good idea and can't work a lot of the time.

My system recently stopped working, could this have been the reason as I have a nearly 2 year old 64MB PC100 dimm and an over 1 year old 128MB PC100 dimm.

I am currently online looking for some cas2 pc133 memory, good plan?

Thanks,

Corm

I have been having some trouble finding details on the latency of pc133, is it all one rating?

Thanks

There can be diffrences, Crucial.com is worth a look.

Pants parts = pants running, memory is important because it has soo much to do with op of the machine, its more of an issue than a 5400 vrs 7500 rpm hard drive for instance.

Especaily on a Abit KT7 board, I've got one and had to get top memory to get it working properly (read to be clocked that is :) )

I am in the UK, any sites over here that people know of?

The site where I bought the bits from have pc100 cas 2 and pc133(doesn't state cas).

What do I do here?, is there cas 3 and 2 pc133 or just cas 2???

Cheers

aha, there is a uk crucial website, theres quite a few different types of memory here, whats the different between 64bit and 72bit pc133, also, it says that there is not much difference between cas 2 and cas 3.

Could my system stopped working because of my slightly slower old memory??, it's not defective as it works in my Socket 7 + AMD K6-3 setup fine.
