memory backwards compatibility

I have Kingston 512M PC2700, can I get Mushkin 512M PC3200 module and use at same time to get 1gig?

Most likely yes, but with possible caveats regarding dual-channel operation and memory-voltage support. What motherboard are you using?

I'm using ECS KT600, though I haven't been able to make it work. Probably a fan problem.

Then you're home free, it is single-channel and you can simply have both modules run at PC2700 speed. Getting it running is the next battle Start by confirming that the board's Clear-CMOS jumper is in the Normal position and not the Clear position, since ECS sometimes ships them in the Clear position.
