Memory availability and pricing for I875 DDR 400 MB's

It costs $560 to upgrade a Dell 8300 from 1 G to 2G memory - Is this reasonable? Should I order with minimum memory and get it in the open market?

you can get 4 512mb corsair ddr400 sticks for $450 or lower

If they were using 1gig sticks kind of reasonable. But they're probably using 512mb sticks.

Yes - they are using 512 mb sticks because they are filling up the 4 slots. Is it too risky to go buy Corsair for instance - I've heard that there are issues with matching MB and memory with the 875 chipset.
