Memory Allocation

Please explain why with Vista 32 Bit OS only 3GB shows up when 4GB of ram is installed ? But when using Vista 64 Bit OS all 4GB of ram is recognized ?

Here is a following quote from the HP website...

*Above 3-GB, all memory may not be available due to system resource requirements

System resource requirements ?

Thanks...

32-bit OS's cannot address memory beyond 3.25gb's ... in order to make use of the additional 750mbs RAM you'll need to move to a 64-bit OS instead, however having 4gb's installed shouldn't cause any problems.
