I have 2x512 of Corsair DDR400 now, but flight sim scenery eats it up. Want to upgrade.

Any good deals for 2 sticks that will do well?

Ah, thank you.

You know, i don't know how to overclock effectively anyway. What if I get something like 2 sticks of Kingston Value Ram? If I let the bios stock settings alone, isn't this about as good for less money?

Pardon my ignorance here.

"Value ram" will probably work, but that P4 and IC7 are nothing like the A64's. They like fast ram, lots of it and tight timings.

Bottom line on the board/chip you have IMHO is, get the best, fastest ram you can afford.

This I did not know: Buy good ram, even if not overclocking. (?)

For the Abit IC-7, I thought about getting just one stick of 1gb to add to the 2x512 of Corsair, but maybe since they a matching set, this might be a mistake and I should get the two identical sticks of 1gb each rather than break up the old team?

As for what sticks would be good for me to look at right now, any suggestions as to what would be pretty good stuff for the price (if not quite the very best) are still very welcome.

The thing is, I just bought and will soon recieve a BFG GeForce 6800 GS AGP (after advice here) for the old box and am trying to watch the budget a little. This will be my last upgrade for a while. My next rig will be built with the new hardware.

Thanks,

hans
