(Press Release) Memorex Products, Inc., has announced that it has partnered with Ricoh to deliver a high performance, high speed seven-in-one drive. The Memorex DVD+RW/+R Internal ReWritable Drive does it all, functioning as a DVD/CD player, supporting all current optical media formats: DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, CD-R, and CD-ROM. The Memorex DVD+RW/+R Super Combo Drive lets users record up to 4.7 gigabytes of video, data, photo or audio files in less than 30 minutes on DVD+R and rewritable DVD+RW media. The drive also writes to CD-R and high-speed CD-RW media. The DVD+RW/+R format allows changes and additions to DVD+RW video discs created by users without rewriting the entire disc, especially helpful for editing home movies. The Memorex DVD+RW/+R Internal ReWritable Drive is available now at retail outlets at a suggested retail price of $379.99

What makes him say that is dvd-rw/r are better than dvd+rw/+r. More compatible. Media also costs less.

-r/rw owns +r/rw in stand alone player compatability and media cost... However, I want the sony -r/rw+r/rw to cover my rear no matter what standard wins :)

Do you have any links for that? Because I've heard the opposite and I've heard they are about the same.

Media is not an issue!!! I REPEAT...media is not an issue!!! I don't know where you guys buy your media, but Staples sells + and - media for the same price! So that argument does not hold up. As for the compatibility of - being better in consumer dvd players, this is new to me...

I'm also confused by the different formats, but ordered one as I missed out on the Cendyne's at OM (sold out at 8:00 am on Friday, here). Figured I could always return it if I changed my mind.

I haven't checked around for media, but noticed that Staples has five packs of Maxell DVD +r media (496265) for $19.98 with a $10 gift card mail in rebate. There doesn't seem to be a limit on the rebate form as to the # of gift cards you can get.

Um, yes it is. I buy Riteks or Accus for $.80 each shipped for my Pioneer. The cheapest I can get +r are 3.00 a pop. Yes, it is an issue.

I don't think he meant anything by that. :)

And I did reply with user reviews to yours, so it is a fine , and informative post.

I believe this unit will work with dvd+r dvd+rw and dvd-r as well as dvd-rw media . It will not use -r and -rw to record a DVD . It will record everything but a DVD in the -r and -rw format.

And to confirm my previous post regarding multiple rebates on the Maxell media. Had a coupon staples had previously mailed me and bought 4 five packs of the Maxell for $20 each and the cash register automatically printed out 4 separate rebate ($10 gift card) coupons.

Edit: I called the rebate center and they told me the limt is 3

Sorry fatboy, (heh heh, always wanted to say that),
But you're not supposed to beg for coupons and you're positively panting. If you want to jumpondeals around here, try to use other coupon sites as well.
