Memorable (if cheesy) opening lines from any Law and Order.

I really like Mr. Jeffrey Donovan as an actor. I think Burn Notice might be all-time classic and was definitely one of my faves.

So in last week's L&O (OG) a woman is shot dead (no, that's not redundant) in a nightclub kitchen. Very young, pretty, dressed to the nines (no idea what that means, will have to look up the etymology). Police photographer comes, takes one pic, walks away.

So what was his character's line? "I'll bet that wasn't the photo shoot she was hoping for." [Andrew Dice Clay] Ah-ohhhh. Rimshot.

Apparently, the phrase comes from an 1859 dictionary of slang (that's within a few years of my birth :( ). It means what you think it does but the word "recherché" appears in the definition which implies exceptionality or rarity.

Back in 1859 though and at least as regards slang, they probably weren't too concerned with word origins, but I'll poke around a bit more.

You lost me with the ASCII chars but that yeah is unmistakable. So if you've something amusing from CSI, sure, I'm interested.

I stopped watching L&O after they got to a bout 15 off-shoots, sequels, prequels and other variations. And I only even watched the original, never any of the others.

Even at that, I only recall one line that made an impression and it wasn't an opening line.

'I'll eat, you graze.'

That's how I feel about about the Stumbling Dead. And trust me, they haven't even gotten started yet.

Jerry Orbach was the king of those opening lines. Obviously the writing but his delivery was always spot on. He's easily my favorite character.

I dunno if this counts as an opening line. But....

There's no such thing as hooker-client confidentiality
