Members of ages 15 to 20: Do you feel that our generation is doomed?

I'm currently 17 years old, and after having many lengthy discussions with like-minded friends about the issue, we came to the conclusion that our generation is doomed in almost every way. The culture of the nation has made it a veritable paradise for those that don't feel that they need to make something of themselves.

So, what are your feelings upon the issue? Of course, commentary from those outside the generation is welcome, but I can pretty much guess which flavor that commentary will take.

Opinions?

16 today and feel like we are the worst generation EVER. I really do fear for the future as I look around school and notice the way certain people act.

I've always thought that the bulk of our generation is mostly worthless. But many generations have probably thought that about themselves at one point or another.

I want to make something of myself. I don't want millions of pounds, but I want to live acceptable (not be too poor). I just want to be happy and probably do something which will be of interest to/help others.
I want to make something of myself, but not something too big, and I certainly don't want to scrounge off the state.
But then I live in the UK.

yep. as you get older natural selection will deal with the slackers/losers and most will end up with what they deserve.

At age 17 you don't have enough education, knowledge or life experience to come to any conclusions. Give it another 15 years before you jump off a cliff......or not. ;)

18 and I have no idea what everyone is talking about. Most of my peers are brilliant and motivated. We have more advantages in communication and learning than any previous generation. It is no longer 'cool' to be counter-culture, and we are ready to focus on important science. Besides, it is impossible for us to be the worst because the baby-boomers already have taken that spot.
