underneath my avator/icon, it reads member. now i've been a member for over 6 months, why doesn't it at least read junior member? i've seen members who've had less than 5 posts and registered this month and they read junior member. whats up?

It's based entirely on post count. Some people get special titles ("Elite member" is the most common, and is given to those who contribute a lot to the community, or those who are friends of the right people at the right time), but most of us have to be content with only these:

Junior Member - 0
Member - 20
Senior Member - 200
Golden Member - 1000
Platinum Member - 2000
Diamond Member - 3000
Lifer - 10000

Note that number of posts, and thus member title, is inversely proportional to the amount of "real life" that one has. 😉
