Mem advice needed..

Hi folks. I just bought an Asus A7N8X and I'm gonna give dual DDR a shot. I currently have (1) 512mb stick of Mushkin High Perf. PC-3200 cas 2.5-3-3-6. This stuff cost me $219 new just a couple months ago. What I want to do is trade or sell the ram to get (2) 256mb sticks of some good stuff. I'd prefer corsair xms cas2. What do you think I'm better off to try: 1)Sell the RAM for $190, and buy what I want, or 2) try to trade it for the 2 sticks I want? The reason I'm asking for advice is because I don't know the value of my ram in the current market. Also, what other ram manufacturers put out a good pc-3200 c2 product? Thanks for any help in advance.

Before you do anything else why not try running the sticks you have @the timings you desire and see if it'll pass memtest86 that way, that's good memory it may handle it, particularly if you aren't overclocking it. Give it 2.6v-2.7v if necessary to see if that helps any, BTW, it's still $219@newegg and OOS so $190 isn't unreasonable to ask for IMO.

😉 Yeah but most of what Dual Channel DDR does anyway is reduce latency, SktA doesn't need the bandwidth to perform optimally. Gains going from 333FSB to 400FSB are small too, so your current stick is easily as good as you need. I'd suggest you try out your current stick as gains from CL2.0-2-2-5-T1 or Dual Channel DDR are very small anyway and not worth the added cost. Pay the extra but be prepared for small gains, only really useful for bragging rights.
