Hi all,

Well it finally happened my 1.4 p4 mobo had a meltdown. The front usb port literally melted my camera usb cable connector. I've only used p4's in the past due to I need super stable system that is on 24/7. I know the intel 478 pin p4 2.8c is a great cpu and affordable, but anyone have any experience with say a a64 2800 or so , that leaves their system on 24/7. how are heat issues. lockups etc. thanks, need to get this stuff ordered today so any help is appreciated. I'm not overclockking AT ALL , but i do play some SOF2 basic use is mild gaming and internet etc.

Thanks
V

A643000+@2.4ghz 1.65v 24/7 F@H load Gromacs stable for months now. It doesn't get more stable than that :) Any current AMD or Intel system is rock solid stable when properly done ;)

I have had nforce 3 250 and 150 for A64 and and an intel 865. I would rank for stability: 1. nforce3 250 2. intel 865 3. nforce3 150.

you mentioned meltdown and 24/7 uptime, so since your getting a faster processor, you will need A LOT better cooling especially if a p4 1.4 is too hot for you
