Yeah i know i know..it's a wonderful comp w/ AMD athlon 1.2 ghz processory, 3 x 128 mb PC 133 ram, and FX5200 (family comp btw 😀, can't touch my baby). Anyways somehow a virus got in and screwed up Norton...

Thank god for a recovery disk 😀 !!!!

Is Windows Millenium the virus?

uhhh ; it's the 5th time I restored it for the past 4 years 😕. I'm very surprised. Pretty stable in my own experience to be honest.

get rid of windows ME! you are not fit to own a computer!

get 2000 pro, AT LEAST!!!

hahahha

4 years with ME, you are either unbelievably patient or incomprehensibly stupid 😉

LOL, golden.

Seriously OP, that computer should be able to handle Win2K. Of course if you already have the recovery disks with ME (Most Erratic) on it, then you can't argue with free. Then again Linux is free as well, and it pretty much beats ME like a red-headed M$ programmer.

If it's just for family use (web surfing, email, word processing) and they're not playing games, why not make your life easier and install Linux?

are you sure norton isn't the virus it's self and it just self destructed? No but seriously, get a real antivirus scanner like kaspersky which is IMO absolutely fabulous. Had a virus runniing around my network, installed norton, security updates, updated norton and everything, attached the computer to the network to scan other computers, the "clean computer" got infected and had norton disabled. Installed kaspersky and it wiped the network clean of the virus.

What is a virus? said the Mac user.

Don't start. It's only because Windows owns the market.

And conceptually, Macs can't be infected... but there's a lot of debate both ways.

You can't use System Restore to get rid of a virus. You have to DISABLE it otherwise the virus can return through System Restore.
