I have the Z-680s and I have to say that they are an awesome set of speakers. DD5.1 Surround sound has never sounded so good on a sub $250 speaker set. The bass is quite overwhelming though, so you may want to turn that down. :)

That's the problem with the z680's, you can't turn down the bass much. Even one notch from turned off gives too much bass, get the megaworks.

I'm trying to decide between the two aswell, although I'm unclear as to weather the 550's are digital or analogue, which are they? Also this hissing problem has me worried on the logitech's.

cambridge has always been pretty good with sound quality, so i'd go with them.

i would use neither. the sound quality of the Electro Voice/Telex 4.1 system blows either away.

He wants 5.1 speakers. :)

that's funny, because the Z560's aren't 5.1 ;)

He messed up on the thread title. Look at the poll.... ;)

how dare you make me look at the actual thread! lol. regardless, the EV's blow the z680's away sound quality wise, so i stick with my recommendation.

Audio is a personal preference. I much prefer the Megaworks. If you're interested in more noise and thumping, go with the Logitech. If smoother audio reproduction is your thing, get the Megaworks.

I hope you enjoy the hissing, even with the new POD.

the hissing issue has been fixed. i know lotsa people who had it replaced, or got them recently, and don't have any hiss.

Im afraid you dont know what your talking about. I ordered the latest POD version of the logitechs from 4 different websites and all of the speakers had hissing. You dont have to put your ear right next to them to hear it, just make sure no other sounds in your room are present, it has to be dead silent. I returned them all and got the megaworks, and after hearing the megaworks I would keep them over the z680's even if the z680's had no hiss.
