Hi guys,

I have a budget of about $20 USD (£13) for a sound card, any good suggestions???

I was looking at a Creative Soundblaster CT4760 (with the EMU10K1 audio processor), and also the CT4820 .

Many thanks in advance for any help! 🙂

It's going on a friend's old P3 system, so no onboard sound.

He will prob do a motherboard+cpu upgrade soon, but hes just looking to spend $20 USD for some sound for the time being,,, so I'm on here to find whats the best to go for in that budget.

Thanks.

av710 is gd for stereo, surround outputs are very low quality. It is not only chip that matters but also how it is implemented onto PCB and what is the quality of other components. For $20 av710 is a good card anyway

I picked up the Sound Blaster 4.1 Digital from Office Depot for $20 new last year. Great card and it has EAX. I imagine you can get the 5.1 version for that price by now.
