Wife and I have been talking a long time about a dog...apparently she thought it was just talk...I had to make some pretty serious deals with her :)

Our neighbor got robbed...and a dog is about the most effective deterrent in any size. It's going to be a lot more work esp that he is just a 3 month old in the beginning and on going.

He's a Australian Cattle Dog mix. Very friendly and not mouthy. You'd never know that someone found him in a bag in a dumpster.

Actually the #1 deterrent is a motion sensative light. Dogs are #2, at least where I live.

unfortunately our break in are happening in the middle of the day :( in every case they show up looking like a 'work crew', my neighbors break in was witnessed by two people that just saw them knocking on the door and pulling into the backyard thinking he had work being done.

No one we know of yet saw them driving away.

One word of warning though, your insurance agent is quick to promise all you need is a video tape. So far I have talked to many now that found out without receipts and even with a lawyer they still lost a major amount out of pocket.

I have a message into my agent asking about what I can do to have them evaluate my belongings and do a certified inventory. I don't know if anyone has any experience in this. They haven't called back but they may be wrapping up for the long weekend.

oh man, hope he's OK. could have abandonment issues, which can be tricky and very frustrating to deal with :(

Good luck to Oggie

My three cats were part of a litter of 6 that were displaced during a hurricane down here. They were trying to find shelter in debris in the middle of the road and a lady at the office loaded them into her car. The one I originally wanted was given to another person and I took two others. The next day that person decided a cat was too much for them so I lucked out and got him too.

The GF and I have been wanting a cattle dog for some time now.

I was worried about that and why I skipped lunch today to go see him. He can fetch already and drops the toy. Not bitey or mouthy. I tested taking his toys from him to see his reaction. While we didn't have food there, I was able to pet him while he was drinking water.

Only time will tell. I got to pick up a crate, bowls, leash and all that.

The one thing is this is really a shelter I am getting him from ($67 for adoption with rabies and neuter), many of the so called rescues want $300+ for a dog and more for a puppy. To me that is a pet store.
