Long, thoughtful article packed, imho, with penetrating insight. I could post an excerpt or two, but I don't think any one paragraph does this article justice. So, I'll just say, take time out from re-grouting the tile in your bathroom, sit yourself down in the Barcalounger, and engage in the"so last century" art of reading.

Then, come back to this thread and pontificate! :D

“Pulitzer-worthy journalist”

That was a bit amusing.

But nothing there was a real surprise, other than some people swallow it.

And he took nine years to pass the BAR, lived off his wife, and received a 7 figure settlement from his wife in the divorce ?

Probably way more there the I'm going to go into, heh.

But he was another Gamer Gate hero apparently...

Until today I did not know of him, but he appears to be man dying for attention and enjoying every bit of it. Its a shame his ego has left him prone being easily placed in the category of "troll". You know how things like this are - with the teens and 20 somethings hanging around places like 4chan or its similar offshoots making little cartoons of "Pepe the Frog".....that shockingly was elevated to the level of a swastika in terms of inciting hate simply because it was depicted with one. That is despite the fact that so many people have created so many varieties of "Rare Pepes (do not steal)" with so many variations that one would finally get a rise out of even Anti Defamation League. If Mickey Mouse was depicted as a Nazi - would he too now be branded as "anti-Semitic"? You would think they had better things to do than to make themselves more relevant by trying to attack a form of digital expression that is mainly used by immature people.

I think Mike Cernovich is just another voice trying to get fame for himself as Perez Hilton is, by depicting himself as some sort of leader but in reality is just someone trying to make a buck and stay in the mainstream of conversation.

This is the intellectual level of today's conservative movement and why the GOP has no chance to return to being a serious governing party.

I don't think that you should necessarily equate him to the conservative movement. He's just hitching his wagon to whatevers going to get him attention and money.

His level of discourse is what's in demand from the conservative movement rank and file nowadays. Sure, the pseudo-intellectuals are still peddling trickle-down and neo-conservatism, but it's not selling, anger and stupidity is.

That's all conservative leaders have ever done, isn't it?

I have a glimmer of hope for the party that after experiencing the agony and frustration of nominating Trump as their champion for representing the interests of their white supremacists, their holier than thou religious fanatics, the fanatical base that wants to be all that they can be and the very wealthy who shake their heads in disgust thinking about those millions of $$$ they wasted toward buying their way into control of the outcome of the presidential race, that reality will slap the side of their heads with a spiked Louisville Slugger and awaken them from the stupor that the leaders of the GOP mesmerized them into.

Make no mistake, once the GOP overcomes their self-hate and stop flogging themselves for the ridiculously stupid myopic self-interested things they've done to wrench the White House from the grip of the heathen Demoncrats, the GOP will recover and start the whole process all over again. :D

Well you could either hitch that to all politicians or none depending on how fair you wanted to be.
I don't think that populism is just a problem for one side of the political spectrum and the other side immune.
