'medium speed error' when burning cd's

i keep on getting this error: 'medium speed error' during the lead-in part at the start of each burn. i have never gotten this before then i bought a pack of 50 cd's which were bargain price and now all of them keep coming up with this error. is it cos of my burner not liking the cheap cd's? is there any way i can fix this or minimise it? i have already tried downloading the latest win98 aspi drivers or something like that off the ahead website (i use nero) but it didn't help. i got one cd to burn out of about 100 tries and its working fine.

just recently i got this new error with a particular cd: 'calibration error full'. what in the world does this mean?

suggest you get some "good" cdrs & see if the error disappears.
if it doesn't then it looks like your burner may be on its last legs.
