it turns out that i still get the problem on occassion - must've been a coincidental fluke.
try screwing around w/ your ASPI layer, which is apprently at the heart of it.
I assume we're all using Nero, or had installed it prior ot the problem?...this might be the problem.
from nero u can download their latest ASPI layer - install it into nero's directory and the winnt\system32 directory.
if that doesn't work, try replacing the wnaspi32.dll aspi layer w/ Adaptec's full install...then make sure that file is also in the nero directory...
basically...u just have to screw around w/ your ASPI layer, as far as i can tell...make a backup of your system32 wnaspi32.dll file as well (should be smaller than the latest nero one - a lot smaller) and drop it in both directories as well.
check your ASPI manager by using any fo the utilities - i.e. the one provided in the adaptec install.
