Medium rare steaks are disgusting

Time to cook up some medium rare ribeyes to go along with the lobster tails for dinner. 🙂 MMMMmmmmmm.

I used to like med-rare the best, but as I get older, I'm leaning a little more towards medium.

on this chart, I would like a steak between med-rare and med, if I had to pick, I'd go with the med.

Medium.

this is pretty much the only thing i agree with OP on

medium well is the absolute minimum a steak should be cooked, and if you think otherwise you are a caveman.

Medium rare beef is juicy and melts in your mouth.

If it's slimy or tough, you're eating a shitty cut of meat or it's really below medium rare. Most restaurants fuck up your order when you ask for how well you want it done in my experience.

I hate the restaurant elitist, but seriously, most restaurants can't make a simple steak that's flavorful and delicious. It's really not that hard. Salt and pepper and get the internal temperature right(use a meat thermometer for noob mode) or if you have fixed thickness of meat, a simple timer gets it right all the time. Just doing this makes my home made steaks way better than just about any non-steakhouse restaurant for steaks.

I have never ordered a steak at a resturant, nor have I ever cooked myself a steak. I have probobly had steak a few times in my whole life, and none of the times was it particularly good. Why waste beef on steak when you can throw it in a burger?

What. Are your taste buds defective?

oh wow.

That chart is ridicuklous. Everything up to medium on that chart is raw to rare. What it shows as well done is medium. If chefs go by that ranking system no wonder it is difficult get a steak that is properly cooked.

Agreed. Here's what a medium rare should look like. It should be evenly deep pink throughout without that look of the uncooked meat.

Its not like I go out of my way to avoid steaks or anything, I just never thought they were special/good enough to actively pursue one. If someone had a really good steak in front of me and told me to eat it, I probobly would, and I would probobly really like it too. I just have never had the desire/ability to get one.

It's not that, It's the fact that you consider a steak a waste of meat versus a BURGER.

Oh, well with steak, what do you do to it? NOTHING.

A burger can have some sourdough buns (toasted) some chipolte mayo, sharp sharp cheddar cheese, sour pickles, crisp lettuce, some good onion rings, maybe bacon etc..

A steak is literally a slab of plain meat with nothing interesting on it. Maybe its served with potatoes on the side....

It sounds like you haven't tried a good steak. Most steaks out there are flavorless, tough pieces of hide.

Get a great cut of ribeye done medium rare or medium at most. Make sure it was well seasoned. It should have an incredibly beefy taste with juicy and tenderness that a burger can't get anywhere near. You wouldn't care about having the garnish or whatever because the steak in itself is bursting with flavor and perfect texture.

Notice how none of what you said about the burger says anything about the meat itself. It's all strong flavors that cover up the taste of meat.

This is why your assertion that steak is a waste of meat is ludicrous. Steak is the exact opposite of a waste because you're eating it specifically for the taste of meat. Your burgers are just ground beef covered up with 40 different flavors. THAT'S the definition of a waste of meat.

Makes sense, I guess I just dont like the taste of meat then. I much prefer the most interesting flavors of sauces and veggies. That would explain why ive never wanted a steak before.......

Why waste beef on a burger when you can make a hotdog?
