Medium gaming build

I'm helping a colleague picking parts for a computer for his 10 yo son. He is into playing Ark survival evolved.

So this is what I'm thinking
AMD 2600X
AMD R580 8GB or GTX 1060 6GB, seems that the R590 will be too expensive
cheapest B450 board available probably m-atx
2x4Gb 2667 or 2933, whatever can be found for a good price
500GB SSD probably Samsung EVO 860
Corsair VS 550W PSU
AOC C24G1 24", 1080p, VA-panel, 144Hz, freesync.

Would it be better to build around a i5-8400?

Can't decide if the lower power draw of the GTX1060 or if the R580 freesync + 2GB VRAM, is the better choice.

All parts are going to be bought in Denmark.

If the goal is the fastest gaming experience at 1080p, then an Intel build with the i5-8400 (or for a small price difference the i5-8600k or 9600k).

As far as the GPU, I'd personally just go with whichever card was cheaper, as they both are great for 1080p gaming. However, reading around various forums, it appears that the game you mentioned has issues maintaining 60 FPS at 1080p with anything less than a GTX 1070. They recommend running the game at medium settings with a cards like the GTX 1060 or RX 580:
