Mediocre service from Newegg

Long story short, I have a Soltek K8AN2E-GR motherboard. I've generally been quite pleased with it, but when I recently attempted to install memory in the second slot, it wouldn't boot at all. The system speaker just beeped at me repeatedly. I've tried using Mushkin Value, Kingston ValueRAM, Kingston HyperX, and generic PC2700 RAM. I figured I'd just RMA it.

I use the automated RMA form at newegg and get it approved right away. However I notice on the form that they want to receive my defective motherboard first before they will send out the replacement. This obviously is not desirable since I don't have two socket 754 motherboards and so I'd likely have no computer for two weeks.

On two separate occassions I called and emailed newegg customer service asking if there was some way they could ship first. I said that they could charge my account for the new board and refund it when they receive my current board. The last time I had to do an RMA (it was some RAM to Kingston), they offered me this option.

So, am I being unreasonable by expecting newegg to do this? Or should I make an issue of it?

Anyone wanna let me borrow their socket 754 board? 😛

ALWAYS have a back up system.
a back up of a back up helps too.

I don't think they should charge you, but I think that they should make it clear that they can and WILL charge you if they don't receive your defective product.

Yes, your expectations are unrealistic.

The amount of labor and the intracies involved in cross-shipping from a distributor's standpoint is not feasible.

Especially at the thin margins Newegg operates at. There's other (ie more expensive) vendors that may offer this service.

try rmaing it with soltek.

or do what everyone else does, buy another one, use that one and make sure it works, then rma your defective board. when you get the repalacement back, sell it on ebay or AT:Fs/T forum.
