Medieval: Total War locking up on exit

What do I think of the game? Well, take Shogun, add new maps, add new units (more different units now), add new buildings (bigger technology tree), add a few enhancements here and there and you get Total War. The battle graphics are slightly improved but not by much.

Argo, isn't Shogun so cool when the battles are in a thunderstorm? You don't see many of them, probably not even one per campaign, but, they are really cool. Nice thunder boomies.

alm4rr--Medieval and Shogun are both kind of combo games. You have a Risk like strategy map, then, when you invade, or have your territory invaded, you go to a real time battle map, and you control your units. You realize the value of taking the high ground when you are using your archers. I spent probably half a year playing nothing but Shogun. Medieval: Total War encompasses 400 years of European history.

I dunno. I couldn't explain it well enough to do it justice. Maybe check out screen shots or reviews. All I know is I got Medieval a week ago, and haven't loaded it, cause I know that's all I'll be doing, and my gf has other plans for me for a few weeks.

Damn, it's out? I read some previews in PC Lamer and CGW and I knew I had to have it. 😉

Xerox Man--Yep. I showed it as a warm deal in Hot Deals last week. $29.99 @ Best Buy, and their edition came with some special book or something. I think the game lists for only $40.

I think I saw it in CompScrewUSA's ad this week for $29.99, but they didn't mention anything about a special book that came with it. I haven't opened mine yet, but it does have a sticker on the outside about a 4 color book enclosed.

If they would only add full MP to it.......

well i got the demo finally downloaded and have been playing it. kick ass sums it up

my friends wanted me to blow 60 bux on warcraft 3, but this looks like a far superior and original gaming experience.

But you say there is no MP?
Is there enough single player to keep occupied and replay?

That demo jaffa mission where all the saracen forces come over hill is like OH SHEET!
heh

alm4rr--Glad you like it. I still haven't tried either the demo or full version. My gf will be here for a week. We usually try playing something on my network.....but, don't know if she's up to Medieval or not.

There is MP, BUT, but for battles only. No full strategy MP. You know...the Risk-like map where you take over territories. Lotsa people like to play the battles online, MP, but, I never have tried it.

IMO....without having played Medieval, but having followed the pre-release discussions on the forum, I'd say you'll love even single player. For me, even with Shogun, I got way more than my $$$'s worth, playing only single player. And, AI is supposed to be improved in Medieval (I didn't think it was all that bad in Shogun). And, lots more variety on the battle maps and larger battle maps. And, consider how many different factions you have that you can play.

You might want to check out the forum, but it is hard for me to imagine any gamer not liking this game. It is so diverse, with the strat map, and the realtime battles.
