Is that place fun for adults? I always assumed it was a gimmick aimed at children.

It's pretty fun. The food is "alright" but not terrible. It's entertaining, even though I know it's fake.

I wasn't thrilled, especially for the cost. I'd rather go to an outdoor ren fest.

Most expensive chicken you will ever eat that isn't as good as KFC.

Show is OK, personally I prefer to spend a day at Renfaire.

At least Medieval Times is called 'medieval.'

Why don't Renaissance fairs have, like...people painting and...inventing...or something? They seem awful 'medieval' to me.

It looks like they're supposed to represent the very beginning of the Renaissance period.

Most Renaissance fairs are arranged to represent an imagined village in England during the reign of Elizabeth I, as this period has been generally considered to correspond to the flowering of the English Renaissance.

Ren fests are pretty mixed, but they tend towards late medieval, and early renaissance. The clientele can be very eclectic. i saw Klingons one year. They looked great, but I don't remember reading about them in the history books :^D

I really don't get why you are so obsessed with things that happened before your country even existed. Go look at the pretty neon lights in vegas or something. You gave up all your links to the past when you tried to make tea in the ocean.

Tongue firmly pressed in cheek in case you were wondering.

Show was OK, food was OK, everything else was quite pricey. I wasn't expecting that. Regardless, I had a good time. But as someone stated above, a one time viewing would be enough....unless the daughter talks us into going.

Never went to the castle. They did come out to my elementary school and two knights fought.

Yep. My girlfriend absolutely loves medieval times, so I've gone a couple times. Its a lot more fun if you pregame in the parking lot and then get REALLY into the show. 2nd time I went with 2 other couples, me and the two other guys were screaming and yelling the whole night. It didn't hurt that our Knight won. Pretty fun night :)

I was there once about 15 years ago. It was pretty good. It's one of those things where once is enough.

This. Went once about 15 years ago. It was mildly entertaining. The food was decidedly mediocre. Would not bother to make a second visit.

I would like to go to a midievil times show with Jim Carrey.

Also had a friend who did a few ren fests outside of chicago in the late eighties and early nineties and got invited to a couple of after hour parties in the middle of the night there. HOLY CRAP the wenches....Woke up one time naked in a tree.

SCA is far more interesting to me than ren fairs. I'll take Pennsic over the for profit businesses that ren fairs are.
