Medieval 2 Total War Won't Install Now

Along with my specs posted below, I am using Vista 64-bit Home Premium and have had no trouble installing games thus far. When I tried to load the installation/play disk for M2TW, the command prompt briefly flashed on the screen and that was all. I figured something was wrong with Autoplay, so I explored the drive and manually tried to run the Setup.exe - only to find that manually loading it produced the same effect as Autoplay.

Does anyone know if there is something specific that must be done to install Medieval 2 Total War + the expansion?

Try right clicking on setup.exe and select run as administrator.

That yields the same results as just clicking on it. It's called Blank.exe, but it's the setup executable. I have had to manually install it before on my old PC when my DVD Drive didn't want to autorun anything.

Not to threadcrap, and I hope you figure it out - but this is exactly why I LOVE Steam. I bought Rome/M2TW the other day because I missed playing 'em (borrowed my roomie's copies for a few months during college) and they DL'd/installed in a few hours and they were ready to go. 0 problems. Again, I hope you get it working, but I really love Steam. Wish there were a way to pay a small fee and convert a retail copy of a game to a Steam copy.

Installing TW mods with steam versions if a crapshoot though, that's about the only downside.

Well I have Steam, but I would really like to get my copy running. I have asked about this on different forums and nobody else seems to have this problem.

Is it possible that my disk is corrupt? The disk is in perfect condition and I played it not too long ago on my old PC. I am just wondering if it is possible that I am getting CRCs when trying to run the executable.

EDIT: Probably isn't the best route, but since I own the game, I am thinking about just downloading it via torrent and seeing if I can install the ISO. I cannot find a working version of Alcohol 120%, so I am using Daemon Tools Lite - which doesn't want to create images of anything for some reason.

If anyone knows how to fix this before I go ahead and start downloading it, please let me know.

Still unable to install it. I can't even create an ISO of it. Something tells me my disk is corrupt somehow.

I guess I'd say at this point just try to torrent it and see what you come up with.
