If the "flu medicine" already had some Tylenol, then he probably got a double dose, otherwise I would guess it's fine.

My dad mixed tylonal sinus and advil once. He went crazy for 3 days. We though he had a stroke or was on drugs or something. It was really scary. No mixing medicine for me.

all NSAID's are quite safe, so it'd probably make him extra tired.

however if he has a blood clotting problem or starts to vomit, i'd see a doctor.

I was told by my doctor 1000mg of acetaminophen per 6 hours tops, or 4000 per 24 hours. Flu medicine most likely has some of this stuff in it, along with the usual dose of tylenol, he is most likely over the limit. But he should be fine, just take the next dose of tylenol later. If he starts freaking out/dying, go to hospital.
