I know this is a terrible place to ask medical questions, but this is a relatively simple one that I can't find through Google. My doctor's office is closed.
My friend is being diagnosed with mumps as I write this. It is very important I see her today and I was wondering if I contracted the virus today, would a vaccine tomorrow or the next day prevent it from infecting me? From what I'm reading there is no cure for the disease, doctors basically just watch as you're sick to make sure you don't die.
Also, since most people recieve this vaccination as children, would I as a 20 year old not be immune anymore? This one is probably easy to answer through Google, I just thought of it and will look now.
If you could link to any relevant information that would be helpful as well. Thanks.
