Starting about this time last year, anytime I ate anything with much fat in it (>10g), I would throw it up and not know why. No pain at all, just nausea. After several dr. visits, scans, etc. they said my gallbladder was bad and needed to go (no stones). Well, I had it out about 9 weeks ago now, and for the last month or so, I've had near constant aching pains behind and between my shoulders and occasional bouts of pain on and off around the gallbladder region. It seems to happen at odd times (not necessarily after meals), but it was made worse once recently after a fatty meal (and went away after 8 hours or so). No nausea involved...I have an appt with my doctor as soon as she was available (after thanksgiving) but any idea on a temporary diagnosis/solution?

Cliffs:
gallbladder bad, no stones
removed 9 weeks ago
ongoing pain/discomfort in upper back/gallbladder region.
diagnosis/solutions?

My girlfriend had her gall bladder removed a couple years ago. She still has symptoms similiar to what you are experiencing, happening most often when we eat a really unhealthy meal (ie a lot of grease, such as that on a pizza). Though it has improved substantially over the past couple of years, she still experiences this, and sometimes has to quickly get to a restroom after eating a fatty meal to poop it out.

That worries me. I would call the doctor's office TODAY and tell them all the symptoms. If they can't get you in this week, then find a new doctor/minor emergency room/whatever. If you have an infection in that area, this could go south in a hurry.

Keep us posted, will you?

I'm hoping it's nothing immediatly serious... I had chest x-rays a couple of weeks ago, ekg, blood tests, everything was fine. Also checked my temp recently 97.9, blood pressure and pulse seem ok, wounds all healing well, just nagging backaches and feels like poking around the gb region.

I would go and see your doctor and ask for information on improving your diet. Most people don't have to change after gall bladder surgery. Some do.
