medical question

Ok, so I broke my ring finger about 2 weeks ago. I was put on a splint for the beginning and then I went for my follow up. At the follow up, I was given Coban tape and shown how to tape my broken finger and the middle finger together.

My question is: what purpose does taping them together serve?

Immobilizes the broken finger so it has time to heal properly instead of healing out of place or causing another fracture when you move it before it has healed.

And who says you shouldn't come to ATOT for medical advice?

Yup. I broke my big toe on my right foot (chipped a piece of bone off) and they just taped it to the second toe. I wanted crutches or some kinda excuse to not do stuff but they just told me to take it easy. :|

I'll make you take it easy...

It basically serves a similar purpose as the splint but for lateral movement. The splint inhibits flexion and the taping inhibits lateral movement 🙂

wow, I get really good answers here today. I wonder if the fact that I have been to a dr and the "Go see a dr people" can't come in helps?
