911Paramdedi: yes, the doctor asked me those types of questions and he listened to my stomach and abdomen with a stethoscope. He didn't ask me about the pain 1-10 scale, but that the moment he was checking me out, I was not in pain (figures). When I told him my last bowel was darker than normal he attributed it to the Peptobismol. He did send me for a laboratory test where I inflated a couple of 1/2 litre bags with my breath, one before drinking a concoction and one 15 minutes after drinking a concoction.

Konigin That's rotten that someone gets an ulcer at 18. From you input into my thread, I'm starting to lean toward that theory for my problem.

PoonDaddy007. Missed your Physics final??? That gives me an ulcer just thinking about it. I had nightmares like that for years and years after I was out of college. I don't know if I have acid reflux or not. it feels more like the pit of my stomach. To be honest, I thought it was gas at first (intestinal). That's why I started out with Peptobismol and stuff. I'm going to try the double pillow trick, though, just in case.

crumpet19. Goodness, I hope you find out what's wrong! How depressing. I very recently gave up most of my caffeine intake, (diet soda pop mostly) and I don't smoke or drink alcohol in the first place. I'm trying to figure out what I can eat and drink without repercussions, but so far everything causes some discomfort, including a cold glass of water! But right now I'm drinking some hot water with a Ramein noodles seasoning packet dissolved in it. That is going down OK, but it has no nutritional value. I can drink Crystal Light lemonade without too much hassle, but again, everything causes me some discomfort. I think the worst was the grilled cheese sandwich I ate last night *shudder*.

pliablemoose They did not draw blood. I'll ask the doctor about liver enzymes and blood tests next time I see him. I'm not sure what GERD is. And the "cinder block" analogy is just a civil engineer trying to speak in medical terms.

Thanks to everyone that took a moment to post something useful in my thread.

GERD is acid refulx, & what the medicine you're taking is for, the test you did was for h pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers.

If you don't have
GERD or ulcers, I'm thinking the next thing is your gall bladder.

I your symptoms persist & you're determined to not have GERD, doc will order more lab tests & an ultrasound I suspect...
