Okay, so for about 4 days ive had a wicked stiff neck, a pain in my back and shooting pains in my head...

A friend of mine who is a doctor says it could possibly be signs of viral menegitis.

not the highly contagious deadly form of the disease, im vaccinated againt that. Just the weaker viral form of it.

Anyone know how to make this thing go away? My friend said usually there are no drugs for it, you just have to wait and let it go away on its own, but i do have work and school, so i kinda need to get well...

Are there any medical people here who could help me out?

I think posting about it on an internet forum is definitely the way to go. Much better than wasting your time by asking a doctor in real life.

Stop asking about medical problems on an internet forum and go to the doctor.

By the way viral meningitis can only be diagnosed with a blood test and there is no treatment for it.

Go to the doctor.

Go see a real doctor because your friend sounds like an idiot. Viral meningitis would present with a fever, mild light induced pain, and possible occasional seizures. Neck stiffness occurs in 50% of patients, while the fever and photophobia are present in 85% of patients.

Go see a doctor in his/her office. viral menegitis is something that you should have checked out. Its not like a cold you need a professional diagnosis.

Yea, they'll have to order a CSF exam. You still aren't presenting any of the classic tetrad of meningitis; nor do you have any instances of diarrhea, coughing, vomiting, and muscle pain. You probably just ahve some regulary back pain, but if your "doctor" friend is concerned about VM, get a CSF.

Just curious, but did you have this during or after intercourse? This is a serious question. Either way, if you go to the doctor, they will likey give you a spinal tab to make sure you A. do not have meningitis B. make sure there is no blood in your spinal fluid.

You're right, they're not always like that, but more often than not they are present. Those are the classic presenting symptoms. Stiff neck pain alone is not enough to seriously think that viral meningitis is the cause.
