I woke up in early this morning and I was sleeping on my arm so it was falling asleep. You know where if feels like whole bunch of pricklies and sticking into your skin. And then I had this annoying ear buzz. I was like it would go away and then six to eight seconds later it would creep up again. I stood up to fix my arm because I figured it was the problem, because a few weeks ago the same problem happened and that worked. So I go back to bed and its going pretty well, but then it starts happening again. Also I have my fan blasting right on me. Then I figured it was prolly the noice comming from the fan causing the problem. I blocked my ears and the buzzing slowly fazed out. It would come but it was very dimmed. Does anybody know whats going on with me. Oh and I am a drummer. Can that have anything to do with it?

I don't know how to tell you this MBrown

but you have what we call excessive masturbation syndrome.

good thing you told us this now. You could have seriously hurt yourself

use your other hand for now on and you shall be fine.

Probably not related to your hand falling asleep. You probably slept on it all night.

You're probably coming down with a cold or getting an ear infection.

sounds like you just slept on your ear. whenever you do that for a long time, you increase pressure and moisture in that ear. increasing the pressure and moisture causes excess fluid in your inner ear (your cochlea region). you have these little hair cells that are the sound receptors and whenever there's no real vibration stimulating the hair cells and it's just a pressure difference within the cochlea, it causes some of the hair cells to fire which causes a ringing sensation. a middle ear infection or heavy wax buildpp-up will also cause this (both of which could also be caused by sleeping on your ear).

do you have any pain in your jaw or back teeth? impacted wisdom teeth can also cause ringing in your ear.

do you have a lot of stress? are you depressed? do you have high blood pressure? do you take drugs? did you bang the back of your head real hard? did you take too much asprin or advil before you went to sleep?

either way, if you don't have it in both ears and if it isn't a constant occuring thing, i wouldn't worry about it. tinnitis usually goes away and isn't anything major... although, sometimes, it is indicative of neurological/blood pressure/cranial artery problems.... i doubt that's the case with you, though.
