Medical/dental insurance ?

My wife needs to have her wisdom teeth removed...

Her boss pays for her insurance, which really isn't that great. It is medical only, no dental.

I have pretty good insurance which covers medical/dental.

Her insurance only covers about 60% after 500 deductible, and mine covers 90% after 150 deductible, and then my dental covers even more.

My insurance company said we need to go through her insurance first, and then we can apply to mine, and try to get some of it re-imbursed through them.

Wouldn't it be better to apply through MINE first, since it is better coverage? Or will I make up the lost money from her insurance through mine?

I am new to this kind of stuff and they are confusing me, and I figure most people here have dealt with this thus making it a good place for advice.
Please help!

why would (her) medical insurance pay for dental work? Shouldn't your dental insurance cover all these if she is covered under your dental plan.

i don't understand why her insurance would cover her dental work either.. but assuming it does, i think they cover the first 60% or whatever it is, then your insurance covers either the rest or covers 90% of the rest.. this happens because she is the primary on her insurance, so that kicks in first, then since she secondary on yours, yours is second
