So I've decided it was time to start the process of planning for my new File Storage Systems. Currently I've got 5 HD204UI with about the capacity at 70% full, and have been playing Data Roulette since I have no backup in place for it though the archival system is rarely active (in the 2 years I owned it, I would be amazed to see more than 500 hours used, usually a pull globs of data on/off and power of deal for a couple weeks). So I decided that once hard drive prices got closer to pre-flood prices to consider building a new setup. So in my search I came across these, in theory pretty good for the price, with 4 or 8 capacity and USB 3.0 support (along with Esata). However I'm unsure if they are actually reliable (heard mix reports hard to, sort through it all).

I do plan on whatever route I go to double up on devices to give some redundancy, no Raids just mirroring. However would it be better to just build 2 identical cheap computers with sata ports or is there a better way to go about this, that's more effective and/or cost effective.
