only started happening recently, but certain video files play upside down in Media Player. If i play them in JetAudio then everything is fine....anyone ever experience anything like this?

I'm not positive what causes this problem, but I do have a fix.

Click HERE to download DivXG400. You should be able to flip your video and be watching things right side up within 2 minutes of installing that program.

might have spoke too soon, after installing that file, playing through Media Player works, but when I use Media Center to play it is still upside down. Any ideas?

Let me get home from work and then I will research your problem a bit. I had it happen to me once, and if I remember correctly, it wasn't a huge issue to fix .... but let me take the time to research it correctly instead of just shooting from the hip ...

If I remember correctly, it has to do with a direct x issue or a codec problem .... but let me find out for sure.

From Microsoft:

Why is my video upside down?
If the video image is upside down, try increasing the video hardware acceleration. There are two video hardware acceleration settings, one in the Player, and one in the Windows operating system. You must change both settings.

To change the setting in the Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab. Move the Video acceleration slider to Full.

To change the setting in Windows, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Display, click the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab. Move the Hardware acceleration slider to Full.

Ok, I'm home and can actually help you research this ...

First, is this upside down video problem something that is affecting all your video file types? (AVI, XVID, MPEG/MPEG2, etc) or is it only affecting one file type?

only started happening recently, but certain video files play upside down in Media Player.

When you're saying it only started recently, are you talking about new files ... or your old ones that previously played correctly?

Are you using a ripping program to transfer your dvds into AVIs? If so, what program are you using?

So far, the two most common causes I am finding is:

1) A problem with the MS mpeg 4 codec.
2) A problem that can be corrected in your rip by checking "Flip vertical" in the frame server tab.

Do either apply to your situation?

first one might, but I didnt encode the videos myself, and they play normally in JetAudio

and old video files I had on my computer are playing upside down now.
